These images were captured while traveling through Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan. I met many wonderful people, many of whom requested photos be taken of them. Always a pleasure to have posing subjects. The sheer beauty of the blue mosque contrasting with the surrounding desert really struck me.
These images were captures in China. Specifically, Hangzhou and the surrounding area, as well as highlights from Shanghai and Beijing. I had the opportunity to live in downtown Hangzhou for one month while working at the Zeijiang Provincial Hospital. The massive urban sprawl, the West Lake, and the surrounding mountain regions are perfect for photography.
These images were captured in Kazakstan. It's history and identity are intimately intwined into it's geography; the great Asian steppe. I spent most of my time in a train (80 hours, non stop). This allowed me to watch the steppe unfold from relative flatness in the West, to beautiful rolling plains in the center, and finally to the faint hint of mountains in the East.
These photos were captured in Kyrgyzstan. From the progressive capitol, Bishkek, to the busy markets and ancient bazaars, and finally to the steep, remote mountain valleys, this nation represents Central Asian mountain culture at its finest.
These images were captured in Moscow, Russia.
These photos were captured in Tajikistan. A remote, vastly mountainous nation, I traversed the the Eastern Pamir mountains by 4x4, staying in remote villages en route. This infamous stretch of road, aptly named "The Pamir Highway", contained some of the most beautiful scenery I have encountered. Interacting with locals, as I was the only foreigner at this time of season, was the highlight of this trip.

These photos were captured during my short stay in Helsinki, Finland, I was en route to St. Petersburg, and stopped in town for a couple of nights to visit an old roomate of mine from back in the States. What would you know, I also ran into a traveler I had roomed with for one night in Khiva, Uzbekistan months beforehand. Helsinki to me will forever be a representation of how such a big world can seem so small.
These photos were captured in the Baltic Capitals of Tallinn, Estonia, and Riga, Latvia. This was during a short trip of the classic Baltic sea cities. Luckily, I had the chance to rent a car and get out of twon for some country drives. No place has ever felt so "medeival" than these cities, and it was so enjoyable!
